Apple won a new patent for Apple Watch, which will become a watch with “release mechanism”

The United States Patent and Trademark Office released an Apple Watch patent earlier this month, entitled “Watch Having A Release Mechanism”. This patent will allow Apple Watch users to use the camera head on the back of the watch. Users can quickly separate the watch core from the watch band and take photos or videos with the lens on the back of the watch.

This patent is different from the previous Apple Watch camera system patent concept obtained by Apple in June 2019; The new patent will use accessories (such as latches or magnets) that can quickly disconnect the watch core from the watch band. The biggest advantage of this design is that when users need to use the Apple Watch camera, they can not take the watch off their wrists, but just disconnect the watch core from the watch band.

The concept isn’t new to Apple, though. Samsung’s Gear 2 had a 2-megapixel lens, but it didn’t get much attention at the time, and Samsung hasn’t added a camera to any other watch since.

In the Apple Watch, an accessory maker created a Wristcam with two lenses, one that allows users to take selfies and another that faces outward.

Whether or not Apple eventually makes a “release Watch” commercially available remains to be seen, and even with a patent, there is no guarantee that Apple will ever make such a product available.
