Many famous watch ranks are deeply loved by watch enthusiasts. However, due to the emergence of high-quality imitations, many friends are becoming increasingly concerned about whether the watches they buy are genuine? In fact, it is not difficult to verify the authenticity of a watch. As long as the production number, case, strap, guarantee card, and other aspects are checked, the authenticity can be preliminarily identified. Below, the editor will teach you how to verify the authenticity of a watch.
(1) Production serial number
Watches have production serial numbers and are unique in the world, with each watch having one number. It is usually engraved on the back cover of a watch, or on the back of a certain claw of a watch, and is a series of 8-digit numbers. If it is a mechanical watch, the 8-digit production serial number will also appear on the edge of the movement clamp, and the production serial number of the watch case is consistent with the movement.
The production serial number of a real watch is engraved, deep and clear. If it is engraved on the back cover of the watch, it will also be consistent with the arc of the back cover, which means that the numbers are also arranged in a circular arc, while fake watches are generally arranged horizontally and directly. The production serial numbers of currently produced watches are engraved on the back of a certain shell claw position, and the numbers are very small and dense. This practice cannot be imitated by fake watches at present. The production serial numbers of fake watches are basically the same, regardless of whether it is a men’s watch or a women’s watch, and regardless of the model, the production serial numbers are actually the same. The counterfeiters are too lazy!
(2) Watch case
There are many markings on the watch case, especially on K gold watches, such as the pattern of a balance, the 18K or 750 mark, the dog head of Saint Bona, or the woman’s head mark of the “Protector”. These markings are all stamped very small and clear, while fake watches are often thick, large, and blurry. This is because the counterfeiter’s mold is cheap and the level of craftsmanship is low, which cannot be compared to the expensive mold of the original watch!
(3) Watch strap
If it is a metal strap, some markings will also be engraved at the discount area of the strap, and there must be a strap number. The markings on fake watches are generally large, shallow, and rough, because the process requirements are high, and counterfeit watches are often inadequate here. If it is a K gold watch, the buckle of the watch strap must also be K gold and must be engraved with the K gold logo. If there is no gold plating, then at least it is not the original watch strap
(4) Pointer
The weakness of counterfeit watches lies in the hands. Although things may seem small, they are not easy to make very similar ones. The surface of the hands on a real watch is electroplated with a very bright and flat surface, with a regular and slender shape (especially the second hand). The night light on the hands is consistent with the color on the dial. If we can make a comparison, it’s not difficult to find their differences
(5) Characters and paint prints
The characters on the dial should also be very regular and have a bright surface. If it is diamond shaped, first of all, it should be a natural diamond, while fake watches usually use “water diamonds” and are made larger than real watches. The paint marks on the dial, including those letters and markings, should be very clear and shiny. Fake watches are made darker and more blurry. The word SWISS MADE should be at the bottom of the dial at 6 o’clock, next to the aperture of the glass, and the letters on the fake watch should be printed higher.
(6) Guarantee Card
Watches usually have 2-4 guarantee cards (depending on the watch model), all of which are dark red and the same size as credit cards. The number of the watch (watch model, production serial number, movement number, and seller’s blue seal) is printed on it, corresponding to the watch one by one. The content of the guarantee card includes an international guarantee letter, proof of precision chronometer, guarantee of natural diamonds, and guarantee of watch functionality. Fake watches often have mismatched numbers, mismatched functions, and the absence of a seller’s blue stamp.
